Samuel Lyle Orr's Life Story
Samuel Lyle Orr was born in a place called Kilraughts parish in Ballymoney, County Antrim. This was around the year 1850. Before he became a minister, he worked as a teacher.
In 1904, he was preaching in Armagh. He later moved from Northern Ireland to Glasgow in 1908.
In Glasgow, he became the minister of Milton Free Church. He lived at 230 West Regent Street. Today, Milton Free Church is often called the St Vincent Street Church. A famous architect named Greek Thomson designed this church. It was a very special building for the Free Church of Scotland. This church was known for its simple style.
In 1913, Samuel Lyle Orr was chosen for a very important job. He became the Moderator of the General Assembly. This was the highest leadership role in the Free Church of Scotland. The next year, in 1914, Finlay Macrae took over this role.
Around the time of the First World War, he moved to Saltcoats in Ayrshire.
Samuel Lyle Orr passed away on January 17, 1930. He died in Ballyalbany, Monaghan.

Samuel Lyle Orr was married to Ann Henrietta Orr. She lived from 1859 to 1913.
His son, James Orr, became a dentist. He moved to Belfast. James married Christina Hood from Galashiels. They had one daughter named Sheilagh Lyle Orr.
Samuel's daughter, Henrietta (1886-1904), is buried in Monaghan. She rests there with his wife.
