Saltcoats (Scottish Gaelic: Baile an t-Salainn) is a small town. You can find it on the west coast of North Ayrshire, Scotland. The town's name comes from its very first industry. People used to collect salt from the sea water of the Firth of Clyde. They did this in small houses along the shore. Saltcoats is one of the 'Three Towns'. The other two towns are Ardrossan and Stevenston. They are all very close together.
