Samy Sana (born December 10, 1988) is a talented French athlete. He is known for his skills in Muay Thai and kickboxing. He has also competed in mixed martial arts. Samy Sana was once the WBC Muaythai Interim Super Middleweight champion. He also fought in the big ONE Championship events.
In August 2020, a sports news site called Combat Press ranked him as the 7th best lightweight fighter in the world.

Samy Sana's Journey in Combat Sports
Starting His Fighting Career
Samy Sana started his career strong. On June 16, 2013, he won the Wicked One Tournament. He competed in the 70 kg (about 154 lbs) division. He won two fights in one night to take the title. He defeated Guimba Coulibaly by knockout and Kevin Renahy by decision.
Later that year, on October 4, 2013, Samy Sana faced Tass Tsitsiras in Australia. This was for the A1 World Middleweight Championship. Samy Sana lost this fight by disqualification. This happened because he accidentally hit Tsitsiras in the throat with his knee. Tsitsiras could not continue the fight.
On May 27, 2016, Samy Sana fought at the "Best of Siam" event. This event was held at the famous Rajadamnern Stadium in Thailand. He defeated Eakchanachai Kaewsamrit with a knockout in the third round. This win made him the WBC Muaythai World Super Middleweight (75 kg) Champion.
Samy Sana won another big title on December 9, 2017. He defeated Fernando Calzetta at an event that combined Oktagon and Bellator. This victory earned him the ISKA Muay Thai World Middleweight (72.5 kg) Championship.
On March 17, 2018, Samy Sana had another busy night. He won the "La Nuit Des Titans" tournament in Tours, France. He defeated both Kevin Renahy and Zakaria Laaouatni in the same evening. This showed his great skill and endurance.
Competing in ONE Championship
Samy Sana made his debut in ONE Championship on June 29, 2018. This event was called "ONE Championship: Spirit of a Warrior." He fought in Myanmar and lost to Sorgraw Petchyindee.
He then had a great win on November 23, 2018. He defeated Armen Petrosyan in the Philippines. After that, he lost to Jo Nattawut in Thailand on February 16, 2019.
The Big Grand Prix Tournament
Samy Sana was chosen to be part of the ONE Super Series Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix. This was a very important tournament with top fighters. In the Quarter-Finals on May 17, 2019, he surprised everyone. He defeated the famous fighter Yodsanklai Fairtex. Samy Sana even knocked Yodsanklai down during their fight. This win was a huge upset. Combat Press, a sports news site, called it the "Upset of the Year."
After this big win, Samy Sana moved to the Semi-Finals. He faced Dzhabar Askerov on August 16, 2019. Samy Sana won this fight too, by majority decision. He even scored another knockdown against Askerov.
He then went on to the Grand Prix Final. He was scheduled to fight Giorgio Petrosyan on October 13, 2019, in Tokyo. Samy Sana lost this final match to Giorgio Petrosyan by unanimous decision. Even though he lost the final, his performance in the tournament was amazing.
After his impressive run in the Grand Prix, Samy Sana became one of the top French kickboxers. He was included in the official ONE Championship rankings.
After the Grand Prix
Samy Sana returned to fighting on October 3, 2020. He fought Martin Meoni in Paris, France. Sana won the fight by unanimous decision.
He then fought Jamal Yusupov on December 25, 2020. Both fighters had previously beaten Yodsanklai Fairtex. Samy Sana was knocked down in the second round and lost the fight by unanimous decision.
Another Grand Prix Challenge
On September 3, 2021, it was announced that Samy Sana would join another big tournament. This was the 2021 ONE Kickboxing Featherweight Grand Prix. He was set to fight Chingiz Allazov. Samy Sana lost this fight very quickly, in just 39 seconds. He was knocked out by a punch to the body. This was the first time he had ever been knocked out in his career.
