San Antonio Abad is a district in the Spanish city of Cartagena. It is located in the southern part of the city. This district covers an area of about 9.7 square kilometers. It is home to over 45,000 people.
San Antonio Abad has a coastal area in its southwest. There is also a famous cave here. It is called Cueva de los Aviones. This cave is important for finding old things like fossils.

Neighborhoods of San Antonio Abad
The neighborhood named San Antonio Abad is in the northeast. It has four smaller areas:
- Urbanización Media Sala: This is the northernmost part. About 1,640 people live here.
- Urbanización Mediterráneo: This area is home to 5,793 people.
- Urbanización Nueva Cartagena: About 3,398 people live in this part.
- San Antonio Abad: This is the southernmost part of the neighborhood. It has the largest population with 13,448 residents.
Barrio de la Concepción
This neighborhood is located in the east. It includes two main areas:

A Look at History
People have lived in the area of San Antonio Abad for a very long time. Evidence shows human presence since the time of the Roman Empire in Spain.
The first written record of San Antonio Abad is from the year 1530. This document helps us understand its early history. For a short time, in 1842, San Antonio Abad became its own separate municipality (a self-governing town). However, this only lasted for one year. It then became part of Cartagena again.
