San José de Colinas is a town and a municipality located in the Santa Bárbara area of Honduras. It is known for being a colorful place, about a two-hour drive from San Pedro Sula. In 2013, the town itself had about 5,215 people living there. The whole municipality was home to 18,791 people.

What is the Municipality Like?
The San José de Colinas municipality includes 34 smaller villages. The biggest of these villages is San Miguel of Lajas, which had 828 residents in 2013.

In 2013, a census was taken to count the people living in San José de Colinas. Most people, about 74.57%, were Mestizo (a mix of European and Indigenous heritage). About 24.34% were White, and smaller groups included Indigenous people (0.74%) and Black or Afro-Honduran people (0.29%).

One interesting place to visit is the Catholic church. It was built in 1930 and is located near the creeks of the Jicatuyo River.
