Sandra Sánchez Jaime (born September 16, 1981) is a famous Spanish karate athlete. She is known for her amazing skills in the kata event. Kata is a series of movements that show different karate techniques.
Sandra won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She also won gold medals at the World Karate Championships in 2018 and 2021. She was a champion at the European Karate Championships seven times in a row, from 2015 to 2022!
She even holds a Guinness World Records title. She won 35 medals in a row in the Karate1 Premier League between 2014 and 2020. This makes her one of the most successful karatekas ever.

Sandra's Karate Journey
Early Wins in Europe
In 2015, Sandra Sánchez started winning big. She won a gold medal at the 2015 European Karate Championships in Turkey. That same year, she also won gold at the 2015 European Games in Azerbaijan. She beat Sandy Scordo from France in the final match.
World Championships and More Medals
At the 2016 World Karate Championships in Austria, Sandra earned a bronze medal. In 2017, she won a silver medal at the 2017 World Games in Poland. She competed against Kiyou Shimizu from Japan in the final.
The year 2018 was very successful for Sandra. She won gold medals at both the 2018 European Karate Championships in Serbia and the 2018 World Karate Championships in Spain.
More Gold Medals and Olympic Dream
Sandra continued her winning streak in 2019. She won gold at the 2019 European Karate Championships in Spain. She also won gold at the 2019 European Games in Belarus. Later that year, she won another gold at the 2019 World Beach Games in Qatar.
In May 2021, Sandra won another gold medal at the 2021 European Karate Championships in Croatia. Then, she went to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. There, she achieved her dream by winning the gold medal in the women's kata event. In November 2021, she won her second gold medal at the 2021 World Karate Championships in the United Arab Emirates.
Final Victories and Retirement
Sandra won her last European gold medal at the 2022 European Karate Championships in Turkey. She also won gold at the 2022 World Games in the United States. After these amazing wins, she decided to retire from competitive karate.
In September 2022, a book series called Kat Karateka was released. It was written by Inés Masip and illustrated by Juan Carlos Bonache. The books were inspired by Sandra Sánchez's incredible career.
