Sandy Island is a special place in Georgetown County, South Carolina. It's a small community and also a much larger island. The island is located between two rivers, the Pee Dee and the Waccamaw River. It has been kept safe as a nature area.

The island is very old, formed from a huge sand dune from long, long ago. It covers about 9,000 acres (which is about 36 square kilometers). Rivers are on its east and west sides. Bull Creek is to the north, and Thoroughfare Creek is to the south.
