Santa Agnès de Corona is a small, quiet village on the island of Ibiza in Spain. It's located in the middle of the island, away from the coast. This village is part of the Sant Antoni de Portmany area. You can find it about 19 kilometers (12 miles) northwest of Ibiza Town and about 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) northwest of the coastal town of Sant Antoni de Portmany.
Discovering Santa Agnès
This charming village is surrounded by beautiful countryside. You'll see many orange, lemon, and almond trees growing here. In January and February, the almond trees bloom with amazing flowers. This makes the area so special that it's now a protected natural spot.
The village itself is quite small. It has:
- A church
- A supermarket
- A few places to eat or drink
- Some houses and villas nearby
You can also find a few old, traditional houses that show how people used to live in the countryside.
The Village Church
The main church in Santa Agnès was built in 1812. It is named after Saint Agnes, a very respected saint. The front of the church faces a small village square. It looks simple and has a roof that isn't perfectly straight.
The entrance has an arched doorway and one round window. There's also a porch on the side of the building. This church was built because of new religious rules made by Bishop Abad y Lasierra. He was the first Bishop of Ibiza. Inside, the church has a low, arched ceiling. You can also see a special statue called Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. This statue is from 1812, just like the church, but we don't know who made it.
