Santa Bárbara is an important city in Honduras. It is the capital of the Santa Bárbara Department. About 49,747 people live there, based on a 2023 estimate. The city is also the main town for the Santa Bárbara Municipality. It is known for its beautiful crafts and delicious coffee.

People Living in Santa Bárbara
In 2013, a study showed that 41,736 people lived in the Santa Bárbara municipality. Most of the people, about 72%, were Mestizo. This means they have mixed European and Indigenous backgrounds.
About 22% of the people were White. Around 2.4% were Indigenous, mainly from the Lenca and Chʼortiʼ groups. About 1.5% were Black or Afro-Honduran. The rest were from other groups.

- General Luis Bográn was the President of Honduras from 1883 to 1891. He played a big part in the country's Liberal Reformation.
- Doctor Francisco Bográn also became President of Honduras, serving from 1919 to 1920.
