Santa Bárbara is an important city in Honduras. It is the capital of the Santa Bárbara Department. About 49,747 people live there, based on a 2023 estimate. The city is also the main town for the Santa Bárbara Municipality. It is known for its beautiful crafts and delicious coffee.

In 2013, a study showed that 41,736 people lived in the Santa Bárbara municipality. Most of the people, about 72%, were Mestizo. This means they have mixed European and Indigenous backgrounds.
