Santa Catarina do Fogo is a special area in Cape Verde, much like a county or a district. It's called a concelho in Portuguese. This area is found on the southeastern side of Fogo Island. It covers about 32% of the island, which is 152.95 square kilometers. In 2010, about 5,299 people lived there. The main town and administrative center of Santa Catarina do Fogo is Cova Figueira. This municipality was created in 2005. Before that, it was part of the São Filipe municipality.

Geography of the Area
