Santa Rosa Valley facts for kids
The Santa Rosa Valley is a beautiful, quiet area in Ventura County, Southern California. It's a small valley that isn't officially part of any city. People often call places like this an "unincorporated community." This means it's a neighborhood without its own city government.
The valley stretches about 5 miles (8 kilometers) from east to west and 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) from north to south. It's known for its peaceful, countryside feel.
Discovering Santa Rosa Valley
Even though Santa Rosa Valley is not inside a city, it's sometimes thought of as a neighborhood of Camarillo. Camarillo is a nearby city, and many people in the valley might use services or go to shops there.
Education in the Valley
A special school is located right within the Santa Rosa Valley. It's called Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School. This school is part of the PVSD school district. A "magnet school" often has a special focus, and this one helps students learn a lot about technology.
Natural Surroundings
The Santa Rosa Valley is surrounded by interesting natural features. To the south, you'll find the western Simi Hills and Wildwood Regional Park. These areas are great for exploring nature and hiking. To the north, the valley is bordered by the Las Posas Hills.
The valley also has a natural waterway. It's mainly drained by the Arroyo Santa Rosa. An "arroyo" is a small stream or creek. This stream flows into a larger one called Calleguas Creek. Eventually, the water from Calleguas Creek makes its way to the Pacific Ocean at a place called Mugu Lagoon. Lagoons are shallow bodies of water often separated from the ocean by sandbars.
