Sante Peranda (born in 1566, died in 1638) was an Italian painter. He lived during the late Renaissance period. He was known for his beautiful artworks.

Who Was Sante Peranda?

Sante Peranda was a talented artist from Italy. He learned to paint from other famous painters. First, he was a student of Leonardo Corona. Later, he studied with Palma il Giovane. Sometimes, people also called him Santo Peranda. He became a well-known painter in his time.

His Amazing Paintings

Sante Peranda created many important paintings. His art often showed religious scenes or historical events. Here are some of his famous works:

  • He painted a picture called Descent from the cross. This artwork is in the San Procolo church in Venice.
  • He also painted The defeat of the Saracens. This large painting can be found in the Ducal Palace of Modena.
  • For the church of the San Bartolome in Venice, he painted Gathering of the Manna.
  • In 1623, he finished a series of paintings called Glorious Mysteries. These are in the San Nicolò church in Treviso.
