Sarah Kathryn Hammer (born August 18, 1983) is an American former professional cyclist. She is famous for winning four silver medals at the Olympic Games. Sarah is also known for her eight world championships in Track cycling. Many people call her "America's most decorated track athlete" because of her many wins.
Sarah Hammer stopped competing professionally on September 23, 2017.

Sarah Hammer had a very successful career in track cycling. She won many important races and set records.
World Championship Wins
Sarah was a champion five times in the individual pursuit event. This happened in 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, and 2013. She also won the omnium event twice, in 2013 and 2014. These wins were at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
Olympic Games Achievements
Sarah Hammer competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics. She finished fifth in the individual pursuit.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Sarah won two silver medals. One was for the Women's team pursuit. The other was for the women's omnium event.
She continued her Olympic success at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. There, she also earned two silver medals. These were in the team pursuit and the omnium.
Setting a World Record
Sarah Hammer once held the world record for the 3000-meter individual pursuit. She held this record from 2010 until 2018. Another American cyclist, Chloé Dygert, broke her record.
