Sarah Mlynowski (born January 4, 1977) is a Canadian writer. She writes books for different age groups. These include stories for kids around 8-12 years old (called middle-grade fiction), books for teenagers (young adult novels), and stories for grown-ups. Sarah lives in New York City.

Sarah Mlynowski was born in Montreal, Canada. Her mother, Elissa Ambrose, is also a writer who writes romance novels. Sarah has a sister named Aviva Mlynowski and an older stepsister.

Education and Early Career

Sarah studied English literature at McGill University and earned an honors degree. After college, she moved to Toronto. There, she worked for a company called Harlequin Enterprises Ltd, which publishes romance books.

Her experiences at Harlequin helped her write her first novel, Milkrun. This book became very popular. It was published in 16 different countries and sold over 600,000 copies around the world!

Becoming a Full-Time Writer

After her second book, Fishbowl, was published, Sarah decided to move to New York City. This allowed her to focus on writing full-time. She is now famous for her New York Times best-selling series called Whatever After.

Sarah also helped start something special for young readers. Along with other authors like Michael Buckley, Julia DeVillers, and Adele Griffin, she co-founded OMG BookFest. This is a fun book festival made just for middle-grade readers.

Family Life

Sarah Mlynowski got married to her husband, Todd Swidler, in 2004. They have two daughters together, named Chloe and Anabelle.
