Sarah Wayne Callies (born June 1, 1977) is an American actress. She is famous for playing major characters in popular TV shows. Many people know her as Dr. Sara Tancredi in Prison Break and as Lori Grimes in The Walking Dead.
She also starred as Katie Bowman in the science-fiction show Colony. Callies has appeared in several movies, including the horror film Whisper (2007) and the action movie Into the Storm (2014).

Early Life and School
Sarah's parents, Valerie Wayne and David E. Callies, were both professors at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. When Sarah was one year old, her family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii.
Growing up, she loved acting and took part in many school plays. After high school, she went to Dartmouth College and studied drama. She continued her acting education at the National Theatre Conservatory and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2002.
Acting Career
In 2003, Callies moved to New York to start her acting career. She quickly got her first TV role on the show Queens Supreme. She then appeared as a guest on shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and NUMB3RS.
Starring in Prison Break
Her big break came when she was cast as Dr. Sara Tancredi in the Fox series Prison Break. She was a main character for the first two seasons.
Her character was not in the third season, which surprised many fans. However, the character was so popular that the writers decided to bring her back for the fourth season. The show's producer, Matt Olmstead, said that the fans' strong reaction to her character's absence helped them decide to bring her back.
Fighting Zombies in The Walking Dead
In 2010, Callies joined the cast of the hit AMC show The Walking Dead. The show is about people trying to survive in a world filled with zombies.
She played Lori Grimes, one of the main survivors. She was on the show from the very first episode until the third season. The Walking Dead became one of the most-watched shows on TV.

Besides her famous TV roles, Callies has also starred in movies. In 2006, she was in the adventure film The Celestine Prophecy. She also acted in the horror movie Whisper and the thriller Faces in the Crowd.

Personal Life
Callies is married to Josh Winterhalt, whom she met in college at Dartmouth. They have two children. Their daughter was born in 2007, and they adopted a son in 2013.
