Sasthamkotta is a village in the Kollam district of Kerala, India. It is known for the Sasthamkotta freshwater lake. This lake is the largest freshwater lake in the state of Kerala. The main office for the Kunnathoor area is also located here.

Sasthamkotta is about 25 kilometers from Kollam, which is the main city of the district. It is also close to other towns like Adoor and Karunagappalli. The famous Sasthamcotta Sree Dharma Sastha Temple is located in this village.
Beautiful Nature and Lake
Sasthamkotta is a very beautiful place. It is surrounded by green hills and valleys. In the middle of these hills, you will find the large Sasthamkotta Freshwater Lake. This lake is the biggest of its kind in Kerala. The water from this lake is cleaned and then supplied to the town of Kollam for people to use.
Sasthamcotta Sree Dharmasastha Temple
This temple is dedicated to Sree Dharmasastha, also known as Lord Ayyappa. The area around the temple is covered with hills and forests. A special thing about this temple is the many monkeys that live nearby. These monkeys are considered holy. People believe that when Lord Hanuman was flying to Lanka to find Goddess Sita, he stopped at this place. Since then, this temple has been a home for monkeys. The monkeys are friendly, and many visitors enjoy feeding them nuts and fruits.
