The area where the Farmington River flows through a gorge has been known as "Satan's Kingdom" for a very long time. People have used this name since at least the 1820s. These trails include parts of the famous Tunxis Trail. You can reach these trails from Satan's Kingdom Road, which is on the south side of the bridge.
