Sauce de Portezuelo is a lovely resort town, also called a balneario, located in the Maldonado Department of Uruguay. It's a popular spot for people to relax and enjoy the coast.

Where is Sauce de Portezuelo?
Sauce de Portezuelo is right on the coast of the Río de la Plata, which is a very wide river. It's about 6 kilometers (almost 4 miles) west of Punta Ballena. It's also about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) by road east of another resort called Punta Negra.
To the east, Sauce de Portezuelo shares a border with Ocean Park. To the north, it's next to La Capuera, which is on the shore of Laguna del Sauce. A main road, Ruta Interbalnearia (also known as Route 93), separates Sauce de Portezuelo from La Capuera.
What to See in Sauce de Portezuelo
This area was chosen by a famous Spanish architect and designer named Antoni Bonet i Castellana. He designed one of his most well-known buildings here, called Solana del Mar.
Antoni Bonet i Castellana also helped plan how the whole seaside resort would be laid out. His work helped shape the look and feel of Sauce de Portezuelo.
