Sauli Koskinen's Career
Becoming a TV Star
Sauli Koskinen won Big Brother 2007. He was chosen from nineteen other people. The public voted for him over fourteen weeks. Before the show, Sauli worked in a clothing store in Helsinki. The casting director for Big Brother said he knew Sauli would be great in the first two minutes of their meeting. He liked Sauli's positive attitude and friendly personality.
After Big Brother
In 2008, fans wanted Sauli and another Big Brother contestant, Niko Nousiainen, to return to TV. This led to a show called Sauli and Niko’s Best Clips. On this show, Sauli and Niko watched and talked about popular online videos.
Working in Finnish Media
Soon after, Sauli started working as an online entertainment reporter. He worked for the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat. He gave his thoughts on entertainment news in weekly shows called Tutka. His co-host was Katri Utula.
By June 2011, Sauli continued his work for Ilta-Sanomat. He also became a reporter for the Finnish radio station Radio Aalto. He would call in from the U.S. to share entertainment news. In 2011, Sauli and Katri traveled to the United States. They made a special version of their web series called Tutka Roadshow.
In 2012, Sauli kept working for Ilta-Sanomat as a blogger and host of Tutka. Another special Tutka Roadshow was made in summer 2012. Sauli and Katri traveled around southern Finland. They met many Finnish celebrities. In 2013, Sauli started making video blogs from Los Angeles. These videos were for the Finnish entertainment magazine 7 päivää.
In May 2012, Sauli hosted the Näytös 2012 fashion show. This show was shown live on the Finnish national TV channel Yle Teema. In December 2013, Sauli joined a modeling agency called Paparazzi. This meant he could work as an announcer, actor, and model.
Hosting Saulin Paras Kaveri
On February 28, 2013, Fox Finland announced Sauli Koskinen would host his own TV show. The show was a lifestyle program called Saulin Paras Kaveri. It was filmed in Los Angeles in spring 2013. In the show, Sauli met Finnish celebrities who lived in the Los Angeles area. The first episode was shown on FOX Finland on September 14, 2013. Famous guests included model Suvi Koponen and chef Stefan Richter.
Winning Dancing on Ice Finland
Sauli Koskinen won the first season of Nelonen's Dancing on Ice TV show. On August 21, 2013, it was announced that Sauli would be in the Finnish version of Dancing on Ice. In this show, ten celebrities learn to ice skate with a professional partner. Sauli's partner was Nea Ojala, a synchronized skater.
The teams had five weeks to get ready for the first live show. The competition began on September 28, and the final show was on November 30, 2013. Sauli and Nea worked hard and won the entire competition!
