Lake Sautauriski is a freshwater lake in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is located in a special area called Lac-Jacques-Cartier. The Sautauriski River flows right through the lake, from north to south.
This beautiful lake is found inside the famous Jacques-Cartier National Park. A main road, Route 175, runs nearby. This road connects the cities of Quebec and Saguenay. Other smaller roads in the area are used for logging and for people visiting for fun activities.
The main activity around the lake is forestry, which means cutting down trees for wood. After that, tourism, like hiking and fishing, is the next most popular activity.
Lake Sautauriski usually freezes over from early December until the end of March. It's generally safe to walk or play on the ice from late December to early March.

About Sautauriski Lake
Lake Sautauriski is about 5.0 kilometres (3.1 mi) long and 0.9 kilometres (0.56 mi) wide. Its surface is high up, at an altitude of 744 metres (2,441 ft) above sea level.
At the southern end of the lake, there's a special structure called the Sautauriski dam. This dam helps control the water flow. The lake is surrounded by mountains and has five large bays. The longest bay stretches about 1.9 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the northeast. This is where the Sautauriski River flows into the lake.
Just 0.4 kilometres (0.25 mi) to the west of Lake Sautauriski, you'll find another lake called Lac Fossambault.
Size and Importance
Even though Lake Sautauriski is not huge, covering an area of 1.9 square kilometres (0.73 sq mi), it's actually the biggest of the 216 lakes and ponds in Jacques-Cartier National Park.
The Sautauriski dam at the lake's mouth is 6.9 metres (23 ft) tall. It can hold a lot of water, about 14,042,500 metres (46,071,194.226 ft).
From the dam, the water flows out and travels about 24.4 kilometres (15.2 mi) south along the Sautauriski River. This river then joins the Jacques-Cartier River, which eventually flows into the mighty St. Lawrence River.
Naming the Lake
The name "Lac Sautauriski" was officially recognized on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is the organization in Quebec responsible for naming places.
