Savage-Guilford was a special area in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It was known as a census-designated place (CDP) for the 2000 U.S. Census. This means it was a specific area counted by the government, but it wasn't an officially incorporated town or city.
In 2000, about 12,918 people lived there. Savage-Guilford was made up of two smaller communities: Savage and Guilford. Later, for the 2010 U.S. Census, this area was simply called the Savage CDP.

History of Savage-Guilford
The Savage-Guilford road was an important path connecting the Savage Mill to the Commodore Joshua Barney House and Guilford Road. This road was one of the first in the area to have electric lights. Henry Baldwin from the Savage Manufacturing Company provided the electricity.
The community of Savage was once a "company town." This meant the company owned much of the housing and stores. It was also a segregated town. This made the area near Guilford an unofficial border for African American communities before the Civil Rights Movement.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the total area of this CDP was about 5.0 square miles (12.9 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 4.9 square miles (12.8 square kilometers), was land. A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.1 square kilometers), was water.

In 2000, the census showed that 12,918 people lived in Savage-Guilford. These people lived in 4,811 households, and 3,314 of these were families. The area had about 2,616 people per square mile (1,010 people per square kilometer). There were also 4,943 housing units, which are places where people live.
