How Did Sayner Get Its Name?

What Is Sayner's History?

In 1895, a railroad line called the Milwaukee Road extended its tracks north. This line went from Woodruff to Star Lake and included a stop in Sayner. The main purpose of this railroad was to transport lumber from the nearby forests. Later, it also carried tourists who wanted to visit the area. The railroad line was eventually closed down in the middle of the 20th century.
