The Mystery Begins at Rocky Harbor Inn
The Scooby-Doo gang is heading to the Rocky Harbor Inn. Fred's uncle, Bobby Flay, invited them to stay. When they arrive, Fred is surprised to learn his uncle is a world-famous chef!
Bobby shows them around the inn. In the lobby, they see a painting of Fred's ancestor, Edward Flay. Edward disappeared a long time ago, and no one knows what happened. Bobby takes them to the inn's best part: a super high-tech cooking area. There, they meet two other famous chefs, Giada De Laurentiis and Marcus Samuelsson. Giada has her cat, Bella, and Marcus is with his wife, Maya Haile.
The Legend of the Red Ghost
The inn's groundskeeper, Jeremiah Noseworthy, suddenly appears. He quickly leaves, mentioning a "red ghost." Bobby explains that Edward Flay disappeared in 1780. People heard him shout "Red Ghost" before he vanished. Because of this ghost story, the inn was empty for a long time. Now that it's reopened, people claim to have seen the ghost again.
The next day, a TV reporter named Gail announces a big show at the inn. She interviews Jeremiah, who blurts out that Edward was a "traitor." Later, a businessman named Bradley Bass tries to convince Bobby to sell the inn. Bobby refuses. Daphne then runs up, saying something strange is happening in the cooking arena.
Mysterious Papers and a Ghostly Chase
Henry Metcalf, who wrote a famous book about the inn, arrives. He gives Bobby a folder of old papers. He explains that during the Revolutionary War, Edward used to wrap food for soldiers in these papers.
That night, during the cooking show, the robot chefs suddenly go wild! It turns out the Red Ghost caused the chaos, scaring everyone away. The ghost chases the gang, but Velma uses a fire extinguisher, and the ghost disappears.
Later, the gang notices that the old papers have invisible writing on them. They realize these are Edward's personal papers. One paper has secret information about army movements. This makes the gang wonder if Jeremiah was right about Edward being a spy. Scooby sees the Red Ghost stealing the rest of the papers. He's scared but eventually warns the others. The ghost trips, dropping the papers. The gang follows the ghost's footprints. The ghost tries to escape upstairs but drops more papers and has to flee without them.
The Trap and the Truth
A package arrives at the inn. It's a court order saying the inn must close because it's a historic landmark. Suddenly, the ghost flies past them, and the gang follows.
To catch the ghost, the gang sets a trap by recreating the cooking show. The Red Ghost shows up and tries to grab the papers. But the gang is ready! They use one of the cooking devices to stop the ghost until it collapses.
The ghost is revealed to be Bradley Bass! He was using his smartphone to control a drone. He wanted to buy the inn cheaply without ruining Edward's good name. But then, Bradley Bass is revealed to be Henry Metcalf in disguise! Metcalf had spent his whole career writing about Edward as a hero. He found out the truth and didn't want it to get out. He thought the secret was in Edward's personal papers, which he believed would show Edward was a spy.
However, Metcalf didn't know that the papers he gave Bobby were the secret ones all along! He only found out when he overheard the gang talking in the kitchen. Velma looks closer at the papers. She discovers that the information Edward gave to the British soldiers was actually false. And Edward wasn't shouting "Red Ghost" when he disappeared; he was shouting "redcoat" – a term for British soldiers! Edward was a hero, not a traitor!
