Scooter was a pop band from Antwerp, Belgium. They started making music in 1979. At first, they were called Scooter on the Road. In 1981, they released their first songs, "Tattoo Turkey" and "Peppermint Girl".

Sadly, their guitarist Jan Fraeyman became very ill. Bert Decorte joined the band to play guitar. After their first album, One by One, came out in 1981, Jan Fraeyman passed away.

Early Success and Hit Songs

Scooter quickly became very popular in Belgium. Their song "You (Don't Want to Be Number One)" was a huge hit. It was so popular that it won the "Summerhit of 1981" award. This award was given by a radio station called Radio 2. It celebrated the most popular song of the summer in the Flemish part of Belgium.

The band's drummer, Herwig Duchateau, helped create their first album, One by One. He was the producer, which means he helped guide the recording process. Herwig later became a successful producer for other bands too.

Later Albums and Changes

After a while, Bert Decorte left the band. Jan Verheyen then became Scooter's new guitarist. The band released two more albums: Charm in 1982 and Oblivion in 1983. These albums featured songs with an American sound. Some popular songs from this time included "Will I Ever Recover from You" (1982), "Stand Out" (1982), and "Minute by Minute" (1983).

In 1982, the keyboard player, Pit Verlinde, also left the band. Scooter continued to make music until 1983.
