Scotland took part in the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. The games ran from July 28 to August 8, 2022. This was Scotland's 22nd time competing, as they have been in every Commonwealth Games since they started in 1930.

Athletics

Scotland sent 33 athletes to compete in track, road, and field events.

  • Eilish McColgan won gold in the women's 10,000 metres and silver in the 5000 metres.
  • Laura Muir won gold in the women's 1500 metres and bronze in the 800 metres.
  • Jake Wightman earned a bronze medal in the men's 1500 metres.
  • Sean Frame won silver in the men's marathon (T54).
  • Samantha Kinghorn won bronze in the women's 1500 metres (T54).
  • The women's 4 × 400 metres relay team (Zoey Clark, Beth Dobbin, Jill Cherry, Nicole Yeargin) won bronze.

Badminton

Scotland had nine badminton players. The mixed team finished 2nd in their group but lost in the quarterfinals.

Scotland sent four table tennis players.

Great Achievements and Records

Team Scotland had an amazing performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games! They won 51 medals, which is their highest number of medals ever at a Games held outside of Scotland. It's their second-best total overall, just behind the 2014 Glasgow Games.

Eilish McColgan won a silver medal in the 10,000 metres, which was Scotland's 500th medal in the Commonwealth Games since they began in 1930.

Scottish Cycling had a record-breaking Games, winning 11 medals in total. Neah Evans became the first Scottish cyclist to win three medals at the same Games.

Scottish Athletics achieved their best medal total since 1982, with eight medals. Laura Muir made history as the first Scottish woman to win the 1500 metres at the Games. The women's 4 x 100 metres relay team also qualified for the Games for the first time in 36 years.

Scotland's boxers won three gold medals, which was a first for the country. With five medals in total, it was their best boxing performance since 1986.
