Kirsty Gilmour (born September 21, 1993) is a talented badminton player from Scotland. She has played for both Scotland and Great Britain in many important competitions.

Kirsty Gilmour's Badminton Journey

Gilmour has had a great career, winning many medals. In 2012, she was named Scottish Young Sports Personality of the Year. She shared this award with swimmer Craig Benson.

Commonwealth Games Success

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Kirsty won a silver medal. She was the first Scottish player to reach the women's singles final at the Commonwealth Games. She played against Michelle Li from Canada in the final match.

She also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

European Championships Medals

Kirsty has won several silver medals at the European Championships.

  • In 2016, she earned a silver medal at the European Championship in France. She played against Carolina Marín in the final.
  • In 2017, she won another silver medal at the European Championship in Denmark, again playing against Carolina Marín.
  • She won more silver medals in 2022 in Madrid, 2024 in Saarbrücken, and 2025 in Horsens.
