About Scott Drinkwater's Early Life
Scott Drinkwater was born in Penrith, New South Wales, Australia. He grew up on the Central Coast, New South Wales. Scott has both German and Indigenous Australian family roots.
He started playing junior rugby league for the Terrigal Sharks. When he was in Terrigal High School, he was chosen to play for the Australian Schoolboys in 2015. This is a special team for talented young players.
Scott Drinkwater's Rugby League Career
Starting His Career (2015-2017)
In 2015, Scott played for the Central Coast Centurions in the SG Ball Cup. This is a competition for young rugby league players. Later that year, he joined the Australian Schoolboys team. He also signed a three-year deal with the Melbourne Storm, a big team in the NRL.
In 2016, Scott joined the Melbourne Storm's NYC team. He played 29 games over two seasons and scored 23 tries. A try is when a player grounds the ball in the opponent's goal area, earning points.
In 2017, he moved up to the Storm's feeder team, the Sunshine Coast Falcons, in the Queensland Cup. He played as a five-eighth (five-eighth) in their Grand Final game, but they lost to the PNG Hunters.
Playing for Melbourne Storm (2018)
In 2018, Scott mostly played for the Easts Tigers. This team is also a feeder club for the Melbourne Storm. On June 24, he played as a fullback (fullback) for the Queensland Residents team. They lost their game to New South Wales Residents.
In the last round of the 2018 NRL season, Scott made his first ever NRL game for Melbourne. He played against Penrith and scored a try, but his team lost.
At the end of August, he was named the best fullback in the Intrust Super Cup Team of the Year.
Joining the North Queensland Cowboys (2019)
In March 2019, Scott hurt his pectoral muscle during a practice game. This injury kept him from playing for 13 weeks. He returned to play for the Easts Tigers.
On June 24, he left the Melbourne Storm and immediately joined the North Queensland Cowboys. He signed a contract to play for them for two and a half years. Before he left, many people thought Scott would be the next Billy Slater, a famous fullback.
In Round 15 of the 2019 NRL season, Scott played his first game for North Queensland. He scored a try, but his new team lost to the St. George Illawarra Dragons.
Success with the Cowboys (2020)
In February 2020, Scott was part of the North Queensland Cowboys team that won the 2020 NRL Nines tournament. He was named the best player of the tournament!
When Valentine Holmes joined the Cowboys, Scott moved to his favorite position, five-eighth (five-eighth). He started the season well, scoring tries in two early games. However, he got another injury in July and missed four weeks. When he came back, he played as a fullback for a few games because Valentine Holmes was injured. He finished the season playing as a five-eighth.
Continuing with the Cowboys (2021-2024)
In May 2021, Scott signed a new contract with the North Queensland Cowboys. This meant he would stay with the team until the end of the 2023 season.
In 2022, Scott had a great season. He scored two tries in a game against St. George Illawarra and two more in the next game against Canterbury. He played 22 games as the Cowboys finished third in the league. They made it to the preliminary final, which is just one game before the Grand Final, but lost to Parramatta.
In 2023, Scott was suspended for three games after an incident in a game against Brisbane. Later in the season, he scored two tries, including the winning try in extra time, when the Cowboys beat Penrith. He also scored two tries in a huge 74-0 win against the Wests Tigers. Scott played 21 games and scored 11 tries that year.
In 2024, Scott continued to play well. He scored two tries in a win against the Gold Coast and two more against the Wests Tigers. He played 26 games for the Cowboys as they finished fifth in the league. They played in the finals but were knocked out in the second week.

Scott Drinkwater's Family Life
Scott's brother, Josh, is also a professional rugby league player. He plays for the Warrington Wolves team in the Super League.
