Scott Oliver Hall (born October 20, 1958 – died March 14, 2022) was a famous American professional wrestler. He was best known for his time in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) using his real name, and in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) where he was known as Razor Ramon.

Scott Hall was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland, and started his wrestling journey in 1984. He became very popular after joining the WWF in May 1992, taking on the cool character of Razor Ramon. While in the WWF, he won the WWF Intercontinental Championship four times, which was a big deal!

In May 1996, he left the WWF and joined their rival company, WCW. There, he became a founding member of the New World Order (nWo) group, along with wrestling legends Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash. In WCW, he won the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion twice, the WCW World Television Champion once, and the WCW World Tag Team Champion seven times! He left WCW in February 2000 and briefly returned to the WWF (which was later renamed WWE) in 2002.

Scott spent the rest of his career wrestling for different companies like Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). In TNA, he won the TNA World Tag Team Championship once with Kevin Nash and Eric Young. His last wrestling match was in June 2016. Even though he never won a main world championship in the biggest companies, he did win the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship once in Puerto Rico.

Scott Hall was honored twice by being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. First, as a single wrestler in 2014, and then as a member of the nWo in 2020. Scott Hall passed away in March 2022, at 63 years old.

Early Life and Start in Wrestling

Scott Hall was born in St. Mary's County, Maryland, on October 20, 1958. Because his family was in the military, he moved around a lot, even attending high school in Munich, Germany. He moved almost every year until he was 15!

Scott started his wrestling career in 1984 in Florida. He trained with other wrestlers like Dan Spivey and Dusty Rhodes. He and Dan Spivey formed a tag team called American Starship, where Scott was known as Starship Coyote. They wrestled in different places, but didn't have much success at first.

Joining the AWA

In 1985, Scott Hall joined the American Wrestling Association (AWA). He was known as "Magnum" Scott Hall and later "Big" Scott Hall. The owner of AWA, Verne Gagne, wanted Scott to become as popular as Hulk Hogan. Scott even used some of Hogan's wrestling moves. During this time, Scott also wrestled in Japan for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).

Scott formed a tag team with his friend Curt Hennig. They won the AWA World Tag Team Championship on January 18, 1986. They defended their titles against many teams. After losing the titles, Scott and Curt went their separate ways. Scott then tried to win the AWA World Heavyweight Championship, but he didn't like the cold weather and felt the company wasn't doing well, so he left in 1989.

Becoming "The Diamond Studd"

Scott Hall returned to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1991 and was given a new character: "The Diamond Studd." This character was a confident and stylish wrestler, similar to another wrestler named Rick Rude. He was managed by Diamond Dallas Page. As The Diamond Studd, Scott started using his famous toothpick flicking move, where he would flick a toothpick at the camera. He had some matches, including a win against Tom Zenk at The Great American Bash 1991. After some time, Scott left WCW again in May 1992.

Scott Hall joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1992 and became the popular character Razor Ramon. He was known as "The Bad Guy" and had a cool, confident style, often speaking with a Cuban accent.

In October 1993, Razor Ramon won the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time. He defended his title against many challengers. One of his most famous matches was against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania X in 1994. It was a ladder match to decide who was the true Intercontinental Champion. Razor won this exciting match, which is still remembered as one of the best wrestling matches ever!

Razor lost and regained the Intercontinental Championship several times. He won it a second time at SummerSlam by defeating Diesel (who was Shawn Michaels' bodyguard). He lost it again but then won it a third time in May 1995. This made him the first wrestler to win the Intercontinental Title three times! He later won it a fourth time, making him the first four-time Intercontinental Champion in WWF history.

In 1996, Scott Hall decided to leave the WWF. He was part of a famous moment called the "Curtain Call" at Madison Square Garden. Even though their characters were supposed to be enemies, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, and Hunter Hearst Helmsley hugged in the ring. This was a big deal because it broke the "kayfabe" (the idea that wrestling is real) for the fans. Scott left the WWF because he wanted more time off.

The New World Order (nWo) in WCW

In May 1996, Scott Hall made a surprise appearance on WCW television, saying he was "an outsider." Soon, Kevin Nash joined him. They claimed they were taking over WCW. At Bash at the Beach, they revealed their mystery partner was Hulk Hogan, and together they formed the New World Order (nWo). This group became incredibly popular and changed wrestling forever.

As part of The Outsiders (his tag team with Kevin Nash), Scott won the WCW World Tag Team Championship many times. They often faced teams like The Steiner Brothers. The nWo became so powerful that the WCW Executive Vice President, Eric Bischoff, who was also part of the nWo, would often give them back their titles on technicalities if they lost them.

In 1997, Scott Hall won a huge 60-man battle royal at World War 3, earning him a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. In 1998, the nWo split into two groups: nWo Hollywood (led by Hulk Hogan) and nWo Wolfpac (led by Kevin Nash). Scott Hall surprisingly turned on Kevin Nash and joined nWo Hollywood.

Later in 1998, Scott Hall was kicked out of nWo Hollywood. He then reunited with Kevin Nash. At Starrcade, Scott Hall, disguised as a security guard, helped Kevin Nash defeat Bill Goldberg for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, ending Goldberg's amazing winning streak.

Later WCW Championships

In January 1999, the two nWo groups reunited. Scott Hall won the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship and later the WCW World Television Championship. He even defended both titles on the same night! However, he had to give up both titles due to injuries.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash won the WCW World Tag Team Championship for the sixth time in December 1999. The nWo returned as "nWo 2000," but Scott was injured again, and the tag team titles were vacated. His last match in WCW was in February 2000.

Wrestling After WCW

After leaving WCW, Scott Hall wrestled for other companies. He made a surprise appearance in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in late 2000. He also returned to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in 2001, joining a group called Team 2000.

Return to WWE

In 2002, Scott Hall returned to the WWF (now WWE) along with Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan, bringing back the nWo. They were called "a lethal dose of poison" by WWF owner Vince McMahon. Scott Hall wrestled his first WWF match since 1996, defeating Spike Dudley. At WrestleMania X8, he lost to Stone Cold Steve Austin. After Hulk Hogan left the nWo, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash tried to attack him, but Hogan and The Rock stopped them.

Time in TNA

Scott Hall also spent time in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). In 2004, he returned to TNA with Kevin Nash and Jeff Jarrett to form a group called The Kings of Wrestling. He later returned to TNA in 2010, forming a group called "The Band" with Kevin Nash and Syxx-Pac. The Band eventually won the TNA World Tag Team Championship. However, due to personal issues, Scott Hall was later released from TNA.

Final Years in Wrestling

Scott Hall wrestled his last match on June 17, 2016. He continued to make appearances for WWE, including at Raw 25 Years in 2018 and the RAW Reunion show in 2019.

Scott Hall was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice. First, as a single wrestler in 2014, and then again in 2020 as a member of the New World Order, alongside Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Sean Waltman.

Personal Life and Health

Scott Hall was married to Dana Lee Burgio twice, and they had a son named Cody Hall, who also became a wrestler, and a daughter named Cassidy. He also married Jessica Hart.

After his wrestling career, Scott Hall faced some health challenges. He received help from WWE for his recovery. He had to have a defibrillator and a pacemaker implanted in his chest. He also dealt with pneumonia and seizures, which led to him taking several medications daily.

Scott Hall's Passing

In March 2022, Scott Hall was hospitalized after a fall that broke his hip. He was found by his friend Diamond Dallas Page and taken to the hospital. After hip surgery, he developed serious health complications, including heart problems. He was put on special medical care and passed away on March 14, 2022, at 63 years old. WWE announced his death during their Raw show with a special tribute video.

Scott Hall was buried on April 8, 2022, in his hometown of St. Mary's, Maryland. Many of his wrestling friends, including Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Diamond Dallas Page, attended his service.

He also hosted a show on YouTube called Last Call with Scott Hall. In 2013, he appeared on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel to talk about his recovery journey with Diamond Dallas Page and Jake Roberts.
