Scouting and Guiding in South Australia facts for kids
Scouting in South Australia started way back in 1908! Imagine, over 100 years of adventure and learning. In the early days, many different groups of young people formed their own Scout patrols. These included groups like the Boys' Brigade Scouts and the Church Lads Brigade Scouts. There were even groups linked to newspapers, like the Chums Scouts, and others like the British Boy Scouts.
Today, Scouting in South Australia is mostly run by Scouts Australia's South Australian Branch. Girls can join too, through Girl Guides South Australia, which is part of Girl Guides Australia. You can also find groups for different cultures, some of which are part of the Ethnic Scouts and Guides of South Australia (ESGOSA). Since 1984, the Baden-Powell Scouts' Association has also been active here.
