The Story of Seabrook Crisps
How Seabrook Crisps Started
The company began in 1945. It was founded by a person named Charles Brook. The name "Seabrook" has a fun story behind it. It's said that a photo shop clerk made a mistake. Instead of writing "C. Brook" on a film, they wrote "Seabrook".
Where They Make Crisps
At first, the crisps were made in Allerton. But in 1979-80, a bigger factory opened. This new factory was in the Princeville area of Bradford. The Allerton factory kept making crisps until 2004.
Where You Can Find Them
Seabrook's crisps are very popular in the north of England. They are also becoming more common in the south. You can even order them through the mail!
Making the Crisps
Most of the potatoes used for Seabrook crisps grow close by. They come from farms within 50 miles of the Bradford headquarters. The crisps are seasoned with sea salt. They come in many different and exciting flavors.
Bold Flavors
Seabrook Crisps are famous for their strong, bold flavors. Many people feel they have a much stronger taste than other brands. This makes them stand out from the crowd.
Who Owns Seabrook Crisps Now
In 2017, about 150 people worked at Seabrook Crisps. At that time, a company called LDC owned 75% of Seabrook. The people who managed Seabrook owned the other 25%. These managers included Jonathan Shuttleworth (CEO), Daniel Woodwards (COO), and Jon Wood (commercial director).
In October 2018, a big change happened. A Japanese snack company called Calbee bought Seabrook Crisps. Calbee's UK branch now owns Seabrook Crisps.
