Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Seacouver, Washington, is a made-up city in the Highlander TV show. It's famous for being the home of Duncan MacLeod and other special characters called Immortals. Many Watchers, who secretly watch the Immortals, also live there. The city's name is a mix of Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. It became the main city for the TV series.

What is Seacouver?

This city was created for the Highlander: The Series show. It was used in the first five seasons. Fans first called it "Seacouver" because it looked like Vancouver, Canada, where the show was filmed, but felt like Seattle, Washington. The people who made the show liked the name and officially adopted it.

Duncan MacLeod's Home

In the show, Duncan MacLeod owned an antique and sculpture shop in Seacouver. After his friend Tessa Noël passed away, he sold the shop. He then traveled between Seacouver and Paris, France. In Paris, he lived on a boat on the Seine river. In Seacouver, he lived in an apartment above a martial arts training center.

Seacouver's History in the Show

The city of Seacouver was founded in 1793. It celebrated its 200th birthday in 1993. This was shown in an episode called "Revenge is Sweet." In late 1992, Tessa Noël was hired to create a sculpture for the city's bicentennial celebration. An Immortal villain named Walter Reinhardt damaged her sculpture.

City Design

Seacouver's look and feel in the show were inspired by two real cities. It was designed to look like a mix of Seattle, Washington, in the United States, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
