Seagate was a community in New Hanover County, North Carolina, United States. It was once called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it was an area identified by the United States Census Bureau for gathering population data, but it wasn't officially a city or town.
In 2000, about 4,590 people lived in Seagate. However, in 1998, the nearby city of Wilmington took over Seagate. This process is called annexation. It means Seagate became a part of Wilmington.
