Sebastià Alzamora i Martín was born on March 6, 1972, in Llucmajor, a town on the island of Majorca. He is a writer, someone who reviews books (a literary critic), and a person who helps organize cultural events. He is also part of a group of poets who call themselves Imparables, which means "Unstoppables."

About Sebastià Alzamora
Early Life and Education
Sebastià studied the Catalan language at the Universitat de les Illes Balears. He became well-known for his first book of poems, Rafel, which came out in 1994. This book won him the Salvador Espriu Award.
His Books and Writings
Sebastià has written several other poetry collections. These include Apoteosi del cercle (1997), Mula morta (2001), and El benestar (2003).
He has also written many novels. Some of his novels are L'extinció (1999), Sara i Jeremies (2002), and La pell i la princesa (2005). Other novels include Nit de l'ànima (2007), Miracle a Llucmajor (2010), and Dos amics de vint anys (2013).
Sebastià wrote an essay about another writer, Gabriel Janer Manila, called L'escriptura del Foc (1998). He also contributed to a collection of writings called Imparables, Una antologia (2004). With Hèctor Bofill and Manuel Forcano, he published Dogmàtica Imparable (2005). His novel Crim de sang was also published in English as Blood Crime in 2016.
Work as a Columnist
Sebastià writes articles for Catalan newspapers. He has written for Avui and Ara. Since December 2007, he has been the director of Cultura magazine.
Awards and Recognition
Sebastià Alzamora has received many awards for his writing:
- 1994: He won the Salvador Espriu Award for his poetry collection Rafel.
- 1996: He received the Bartomeu Rosselló-Pòrcel Award from Obra Cultural Balear.
- 1999: He was given the Award Documenta de narrativa.
- 2002: His novel Sara i Jeremies won the Award Ciutat de Palma de novel·la.
- 2003: He received the Award Jocs Florals de Barcelona for El Benestar.
