Sebastian Matthias Nerz (born July 13, 1983) is a German politician and a bioinformatician. A bioinformatician is someone who uses computer science to understand biological information, like DNA. He was the leader of the Pirate Party Germany from May 2011 to April 2012.

About Sebastian Nerz
Sebastian Nerz was born in 1983. His parents were both doctors. He finished high school in 2002. After that, he did his mandatory civil service, which is a type of community work. In 2003, he started studying bioinformatics at the University of Tübingen.
His Political Journey
Sebastian Nerz first joined a political party called the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in 2001. He was a member of this party in his hometown of Tübingen. He stayed with the CDU until 2009.
In June 2009, before a big election in Germany, he decided to join a different party. This new party was the Pirate Party Germany. He quickly became an important member. He joined the board of the party's local group in Tübingen. He also helped coordinate regional politics for the party in the area of Baden-Württemberg.
Leading the Pirate Party
From April 2010 to May 2011, Sebastian Nerz was the head of the Pirate Party in his region. In 2010, he earned his diploma in bioinformatics. The next year, in May 2011, he was chosen to be the leader of the entire Pirate Party Germany. He led the party for about a year.
In April 2012, another politician named Bernd Schlömer took over as the party leader. Sebastian Nerz left the Pirate Party Germany in February 2014. Later, in 2015, he joined the Free Democratic Party.
