Key Historical Moments
The famous Rütli meadow is located here. Legend says that the Old Swiss Confederacy began with an important oath on this meadow. This oath helped create Switzerland as we know it today.
In 1947, the Seelisberg Conference took place in this town. It was a meeting where people came together. They discussed ways to promote understanding and peace among different groups.
From 1968 to 1992, Seelisberg was home to a special center. This was the main office for the Transcendental Meditation movement. It was located in a hotel that was changed for this purpose.
