Seiji Honda (本田 征治, Honda Seiji), born on February 25, 1976, is a former Japanese football player. He played as a goalkeeper, which means his main job was to protect his team's goal and stop the other team from scoring.

Seiji Honda's Football Journey

Seiji Honda was born in Kitajima, Tokushima, Japan. He started his professional football career in 1995 when he joined the team Nagoya Grampus Eight. He played for this team for several years.

Playing for Different Clubs

In 1999, Seiji Honda went on loan to another team called Bellmare Hiratsuka. This is where he played his first official matches in the league. After that, he returned to Nagoya Grampus Eight in 2000.

Later, in August 2004, he moved to Vissel Kobe. He continued to play as a goalkeeper there. In 2007, he joined Thespa Kusatsu, a club in the J2 League. At Thespa Kusatsu, he became a regular player and played in many matches.

Retirement from Football

In 2009, Seiji Honda faced an injury, which meant he couldn't play as much. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2009 season.

Playing for His Country: Japan U-20 Team

Seiji Honda also had the chance to represent his country. In April 1995, he was chosen to be part of the Japan U-20 national team. He played in two matches for this team during the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship. This was a big international tournament for young football players.
