School History
How Seijo Gakuen Started
The Seijo Gakuen Junior High School and High School has a long history. It began with the Seijo Elementary School. This elementary school was the very first part of the Seijo Gakuen group.
Becoming a Junior and Senior High School
During the 1920s, the school system grew. Separate junior high schools were created. There were also separate high schools for boys and girls. This meant students went to different schools based on their gender.
Changes After World War II
After World War II, Japan made big changes to its education system. In 1949, new rules were put in place. Because of these changes, the schools were reorganized. In 1950, the Seijo Gakuen Junior High School and High School opened. This new school allowed both boys and girls to study together. At the same time, the higher education part of Seijo Gakuen became a junior college. Later, it grew even more and became Seijo University.
