Svetlana Piljikić (born Aleksić on April 23, 1981), known by her stage name Seka Aleksić, is a famous Serbian singer. She became a star with her first album, Idealno tvoja, in 2002. Since then, she has released nine studio albums. Her music is mostly a popular style called pop-folk.

Besides singing, Seka has also acted in a movie called We Are Not Angels 3: Rock & Roll Strike Back (2006). She even had her own reality television show, Moja desna ruka (2010). Seka is also a fashion designer and has created her own clothing lines. She is very popular on social media and is the most followed woman from Serbia on Instagram.

Early Life and Background

Svetlana Aleksić was born in Zvornik, which was then part of a country called Yugoslavia. Her father, Milorad, was a Bosnian Serb, and her mother, Ibrima, was a Bosniak. Her parents separated when she was seven years old. She had a difficult childhood because of problems at home.

During the Bosnian War in the 1990s, Seka, her mother, and her older brother had to leave their home. They moved to Serbia for safety. They first lived in a town called Banja Koviljača and later settled in the village of Lipolist.

Music and Entertainment Career

A Star is Born

Because her family did not have a lot of money, Seka started singing at a young age to help out. When she was 19, she moved to Switzerland and performed with a band.

Her big break came in 2002 when she won a folk music festival in Ćuprija, Serbia, with her song "Idealno tvoja". This led to her first album with the same name, released by Grand Production. Her next albums, Balkan (2003) and Dođi i uzmi me (2005), were also very successful. They included hit songs like "Crno i zlatno" and "Sviđa mi se tvoja devojka".

Becoming a Queen of Pop-Folk

In 2006, Seka showed her acting talent in the comedy movie We Are Not Angels 3: Rock & Roll Strike Back. Her next album, Kraljica (which means "Queen"), came out in 2007. It was a huge success, selling 300,000 copies and becoming the best-selling album of the year by a Serbian artist. It featured famous songs like "Aspirin" and "Poslednji let".

In 2010, Seka held her first major solo concert at the Belgrade Arena in front of 15,000 fans. That same year, she starred in her own reality TV show, Moja desna ruka (My Right Hand), where she searched for a new personal assistant.

Continued Success

Seka continued to release popular music. Her album Lom came out in 2012, and she toured across Europe and the United States. In 2013, she was the voice of the character Vexy in the Serbian version of the movie The Smurfs 2.

In 2015, she released the album Lek za spavanje, which had hit songs like "Crveni ruž". Her eighth album, Koma, was released in 2017 and included popular tracks like "Evo". To celebrate this album, she held her second concert at the Belgrade Arena in April 2018.

In May 2022, Seka released another album called Bioskop. She later announced her tenth album, Disco Seka. In 2023, she was given the special title of National Music Artist of Serbia for her contributions to music.

Personal Life

Seka Aleksić married Veljko Piljikić, a former kickboxer, on September 12, 2010. They have two sons, Jovan (born in 2016) and Jakov (born in 2020). The family lives in a town called Stara Pazova in Serbia.

Seka is a practicing Eastern Orthodox Christian and often speaks about her faith.

Helping Others

Seka is known for her charity work. In 2011, she held a concert in Zenica to raise money for a young man with a serious illness, raising about €40,000.

When major floods hit Southeast Europe in 2014, Seka helped by providing food and other necessary supplies to shelters in Serbia.

She has also shown public support for the LGBT community in Serbia and has spoken out against violence. In 2023, she supported the Serbia Against Violence protests, which were organized after a tragic school shooting in Belgrade.
