Semiramide is a famous opera from Italy. It was written by a well-known composer named Gioachino Rossini. An opera is like a play where all the words are sung, usually with an orchestra playing music. This opera has two main parts, called acts.
Semiramide was first shown to people in Venice, Italy, on February 3, 1823. This happened at a famous theater called Teatro La Fenice. The story for the opera, called the libretto, was written by Gaetano Rossi. He based it on a play called Semiramis by a writer named Voltaire. This opera was very popular right from the start.
