Seneca (once known as North Fork) is a small, unincorporated community located in Plumas County, California. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
Seneca sits high up, at an elevation of 3,625 feet (1,105 meters) above sea level. It is found along the North Fork Feather River. This community is about 6.25 miles (10 kilometers) north of another place called Twain.
History of Seneca
Post Office Days
Seneca had its own post office for a while. The first post office opened in 1902. It closed down in 1918.
Later, in 1923, the post office reopened. It moved to a new spot in 1941. However, it finally closed for good in 1943.
Seneca for Sale
In 2013, something interesting happened. The entire community of Seneca was put up for sale! It included about 12 acres of land. The asking price for this whole community was $225,000.
