The Sentiero del Viandante is a famous walking path in a region of Italy called Lombardy. Its name means "Wayfarer's Path" in English. This path follows the eastern side of the beautiful Lake Como. It begins near the Church of Saint Martin in Abbadia Lariana, which is in the Province of Lecco. The path finishes near a church called Madonna di Val Pozzo, close to Piantedo in the Province of Sondrio. The entire path is about 45 kilometers long.

What is the Sentiero del Viandante?

The Sentiero del Viandante is an old trail that has been used for a very long time. It was first created during the time of Ancient Roman people. Back then, it connected the city of Milan all the way to the border of Switzerland.

How was the path restored?

For many years, parts of the path became overgrown and hard to use. But in 1989, the local government in the Province of Lecco started a project to clean up and fix the trail. They worked hard to make it safe and easy to walk on again. In 1992, the restored path was officially given its current name, "Sentiero del Viandante."
