Sergei Sergeevich Sidorsky (born March 13, 1954) is a politician from Belarus. He was the Prime Minister of Belarus from July 11, 2004, to December 28, 2010. He first became the acting Prime Minister on July 11, 2004, after Gennady Novitsky left the role. Later, on December 19, 2004, he was officially confirmed as the permanent Prime Minister.

Early Life and Career
Sergei Sergeevich Sidorsky was born on March 13, 1954, in Homiel, which is a city in Belarus. He finished school in 1971. In 1976, he graduated from the Belarusian Institute of Railway Engineers, where he studied electrical engineering.
Sidorsky started his working life as an electrical fitter and electrician. From 1976 to 1991, he worked at the Homiel Radio Equipment Plant. He began as a foreman, which is like a team leader, in the assembly shop. He quickly moved up, becoming the head of the laboratory and then the head of a department. Eventually, he became the deputy director, helping to manage the plant's daily work.
In 1991, Sidorsky became the director of the Homiel Radio Equipment Plant. He was in charge of running the plant and making sure it continued to grow and do well until 1992.
After working at the plant, Sidorsky was the general manager of a company called Research and Production Association RATON in Homiel from 1992 to 1998. During this time, he managed different research and production projects.
Government Roles
In 1998, Sidorsky started working in public service. He became the deputy chairman and then the first deputy chairman of the Homiel Voblast Administration. In these roles, he played an important part in managing and developing the Homiel region.
Because of his hard work and knowledge, Sidorsky was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus in 2001. He continued to move up, becoming the First Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister of Belarus from 2002 to 2003.
Prime Minister of Belarus
From December 2003 to December 2010, Sidorsky held the important position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus. In this role, he led many plans and actions to help the country's economy grow, improve social services, and work with other countries.
After Being Prime Minister
On December 13, 2011, he was chosen to be a member of the Board (which is like a minister) for Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex at the Eurasian Economic Commission. This organization works to help countries in Eurasia cooperate on economic matters.
Awards and Achievements
Sergei Sidorsky has received the title of Honoured Workman of the Industry of the Republic of Belarus. He is also a Doctor of Engineering Sciences and a member of the International Engineering Academy. He is an expert in special technologies called vacuum-plasma technologies. He has written more than 40 scientific papers and books. In 2009, the Ukrainian president, Viktor Yushchenko, gave him a special award called "Honorary Weapon." This was to recognize his important efforts in building good relationships between Ukraine and Belarus.
Personal Life
Sidorsky is married and has two daughters. Besides speaking Belarusian, he also speaks Russian and German.
