Sergio Escudero (エスクデロ 競飛王, Esukudero Seruhio; born 1 September 1988) is a professional footballer. He plays as an attacking midfielder or striker. Currently, he plays for Victoria Premier League 1 club North Geelong Warriors FC.
Sergio was born in Spain. He has played for the Japan U23 national team. His father, Sergio Ariel Escudero, was also a footballer.

Football Career
Early Life and Youth Teams
When Sergio was three years old, his family moved to Japan. This was because of his father's work. He joined a local football club there. After five years in Japan, he moved to Argentina.
In Argentina, Sergio joined the youth team of Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield. His father and uncle also played for this club. He was even invited to train with the U-15 Argentina national team.
Becoming a Professional Player
In 2001, Sergio returned to Japan. He joined the junior youth team of Kashiwa Reysol. Later, he moved to the Urawa Red Diamonds youth team. He was very good at scoring goals in youth league matches.
In 2005, Urawa Reds signed him as a professional player. He made his first professional appearance on 15 April 2005. He was only 16 years old at the time. This made him one of the youngest players in the J. League Division 1.
Playing for Japan
On 11 June 2007, Sergio became a Japanese citizen. This gave him the chance to play for Japan's national teams. In May 2008, he joined the U-23 national team. He even scored a goal in a tournament against Ivory Coast.
Moving to South Korea and China
On 17 July 2012, Sergio joined South Korean club FC Seoul. He first joined on a six-month loan. He quickly scored his first goal on 21 July. He performed well, scoring four goals and helping with three assists.
Because of his good performance, his loan became a permanent move in December. In 2013, he played in the 2013 AFC Champions League Final. He scored the first goal and helped his team get a draw. He was named the "Man of the Match" for his excellent play.
On 25 February 2015, Sergio signed a two-year contract. He moved to China to play for Chinese Super League team Jiangsu Guoxin-Sainty. Later, on 1 August 2022, he joined C.D. Atlético Marte in El Salvador.
Personal Life
Sergio Escudero was born in Spain. His parents were Argentinian with Spanish family roots. So, he had both Argentinian and Spanish citizenship. In 2007, his father became a Japanese citizen. Because of this, Sergio also automatically became a Japanese citizen.
Sergio is related to other footballers. He is a cousin of Damián Escudero. He is also the nephew of Osvaldo Escudero.
