The Serra de Pàndols is a mountain range in Catalonia, Spain. It is made mostly of limestone rock. You can find it at the southern end of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range.
There are plans to build wind turbines on Serra de Pàndols. These plans also include the nearby Serra de Cavalls. Some people are not happy about these plans. To the south of this range, you will find the Serra de Paüls mountains.
What is Hill 705?
The highest point of the Serra de Pàndols is called Punta Alta. It stands at 705.5 meters (about 2,315 feet) tall. This peak was known as Hill 705 (or Cota 705 in Spanish).
It became famous during the Battle of the Ebro. This was a very long and difficult series of fights. It happened during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). The battle was also the last time the International Brigades fought. These were groups of volunteers from other countries.
Why was Hill 705 important?
Hill 705 was a very important spot. It helped control the Serra de Pàndols area during the Battle of the Ebro. If you controlled this hill, you had a big advantage.
Today, a monument stands near the peak. It honors the people who died fighting there. Hill 705 is located in the area of Pinell de Brai.
