This means it is an area that the government counts for population, but it is not officially a city or town with its own local government. Seven Oaks is about 8 miles northwest of Columbia, which is the capital city of South Carolina. In 2020, about 14,652 people lived there. Seven Oaks is also part of the larger Columbia Metropolitan Area.

Exploring Seven Oaks' Location
Seven Oaks is located in the northeastern part of Lexington County. It is surrounded by other communities. To the northwest, you will find the city of Irmo. To the southeast, it borders Columbia and West Columbia. On its northeast side, it touches an area called St. Andrews in Richland County.
Neighborhoods and Roads
Seven Oaks is home to several neighborhoods. These include Challedon, Whitehall, Grenadier, and Woodland Hills. Major highways also run through the area. I-26 goes through the northeast side of Seven Oaks. You can get on or off I-26 at Exit 104 (Piney Grove Road) and Exit 106 (Saint Andrews Road). I-20 passes through the southern part of the community. You can access I-20 from Exit 63 (Bush River Road). Both I-26 and I-20 meet at a big interchange on the eastern edge of Seven Oaks.

The total area of Seven Oaks is about 20.11 square kilometers (7.77 square miles). Most of this area is land, about 19.82 square kilometers (7.65 square miles). A small part, about 0.30 square kilometers (0.11 square miles), is water. The Saluda River forms the southwestern border of the community.
