Seward is a small town, also called a borough, located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In 2010, about 495 people lived there.
Seward is one of three communities in Westmoreland County that uses the 814 area code. The other two are St. Clair and New Florence.

History of Seward
Seward has a history that includes important events from the early 1900s.
Early 1900s Events
In June 1902, there was an explosion at the Cambria powder plant's coining mill in Seward. This event sadly resulted in the deaths of several workers and injured others.
Another similar explosion happened at the Conemaugh Powder Works in Seward on December 7, 1903. One worker died, and four others were seriously hurt.
Oldest Resident
On January 4, 1908, a very old resident of Seward named Patrick Kerwin passed away. He was said to be 111 years old, making him possibly the oldest person in Pennsylvania at that time. He was born in Ireland in 1796.
