Seán McGinley was born in Pettigo, a town in County Donegal, Ireland. His dad worked there as a customs officer. Seán grew up in a nearby town called Ballyshannon.

He went to University College, Galway for his education. From 1977 to 1989, he was part of the Druid Theatre Company. This is a famous theater group. After his time with the theater, Seán started acting in movies.

Acting Career

Seán McGinley has acted in many well-known films. These include Braveheart, The General, and Gangs of New York. He also appeared in The Butcher Boy, Freeze Frame, and Man About Dog.

Besides movies, Seán has also starred in many TV shows. He played a character named Malachy on the show Republic of Doyle. He was on this show from 2010 to 2014.
