Shabani Christophe Nonda, born on March 6, 1977, is a famous former professional football player. He was a striker, which means he was a player whose main job was to score goals.
Even though he was born in Burundi, Nonda played for the DR Congo national team. He played in 36 international games for his country and scored 20 goals. He was also part of the DR Congo team for the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations. Before playing in Europe, he had a great career with the well-known team Young Africans (Yanga) in East Africa. After that, he played for Vaal Professionals in South Africa.

Shabani Nonda's Club Journey
Shabani Nonda started his football journey in 1992 at a club called Atlético Olympic in his hometown of Bujumbura, Burundi. He trained in Uganda and played in Tanzania and South Africa.
Playing in Switzerland and France
In 1996, Nonda moved to Switzerland to play for FC Zürich. He quickly became a top scorer there, leading the league in goals for two years in a row. His amazing skills caught the eye of bigger clubs.
In 1998, he moved to France to play for Stade Rennais. After two successful years, he joined AS Monaco in 2000. He was brought in to replace another famous player, David Trezeguet. Nonda played very well for Monaco, even reaching the 2004 UEFA Champions League final.
Time in Italy and England
In 2005, Nonda moved to Italy to play for AS Roma. However, he faced some challenges, including a knee injury he had from his time at Monaco. Because of this, he didn't play as much as expected.
In the 2006–07 season, he was loaned to the English team Blackburn Rovers. He played 26 games and scored 7 goals for them. Even though he wanted to stay, Blackburn Rovers decided not to sign him permanently.
Moving to Turkey
In August 2007, Nonda signed a two-year deal with the Turkish club Galatasaray. He continued to score goals and help his team. On January 28, 2010, he left Galatasaray by agreement.
Playing for His Country
Even though Shabani Nonda was born in Burundi, he is a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He played for the DR Congo national team, earning 36 caps (appearances) and scoring 20 goals.
He first retired from international football in 2005 but returned to play for his country in 2007. In 2008, he scored three goals in one game (a hat-trick) against Djibouti during a World Cup qualification match.

Shabani Nonda has always been interested in media. During his football career, he even hosted a DJ show for a radio station in Burundi!
