The community of Shady Grove was named for a very simple reason. There was a grove of trees that provided a lot of shade. This shade made the area a cool and pleasant place.
The Duck River Post Office
For many years, Shady Grove had its own post office. A post office is where people send and receive mail. The post office here was called the Duck River post office. It opened on December 28, 1846. It served the community for a long time, until March 12, 1977.
