Shane Belcourt, born on December 30, 1972, is a Canadian filmmaker. He writes, directs, and works with cameras. He is famous for his movie Tkaronto (2007). This film shows the lives of Métis and First Nations people living in cities.
About Shane Belcourt
Shane Belcourt was born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1972. His parents are Tony Belcourt and Judith Pierce-Martin. He has two sisters: Suzanne Belcourt, a graphic designer, and Christi Belcourt, a painter.
Exploring Indigenous Culture
Much of Shane Belcourt's work focuses on Indigenous issues and culture in Canada. He loves to share stories about these topics.
Before making his first big movie, he directed two short films:

His first feature film, Tkaronto, was shown at the imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival in 2007.

His second feature film, Red Rover, came out in 2018.
Recent Projects
In 2022, his documentary film Beautiful Scars was released. This movie is about musician Tom Wilson. It tells the story of how Tom discovered his Mohawk heritage later in life. The film was shown at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.
Shane Belcourt's third feature film, Warrior Strong, began production in 2022. It is planned to be shown at the 2023 Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.
